Project 2: Research

For Project 2 (Web 1), I decided to work on fixing up Euro-Gyro’s website. A local restaurant/bar and grill in Akron, OH. For my websites, I’m going to start using better photos to apply for my website, but first I compared it with 10 other websites of local bars and grills within the Akron/Summit County area.

10 Comparable Sites:

Client 1: EUROGYRO – Local Restaurant/Bar and Grill

Paragraph defining the client – The ideal customer is the type of client every restaurant needs to have. It is the client that matches better with your restaurant style. Having an ideal customer defined is important because no restaurant can serve all kinds of customers. It’s important that it makes the right first impression. It is necessary to understand who is your target public and what it is that your ideal customer has to have. Or what it is that your restaurant needs to have in order to serve that target audience. They also need to think about what will draw the attention of others in order to

From what I learned from Euro-Gyro, was that their website is old fashioned. Another thing I’ve learned was that there wasn’t any

Having an excellent customer service and a well-developed website is most important at this stage so it can be a  challenge, but challenge accepted.

Paragraph defining the industry based on competitors, region or market – All competitors are also local bars and late night restaurants that serve typical bar food and alcohol to adults and college students. Since it’s considered a college hangout, it’s important that Euro-Gyro is the hot-spot on college campus.

Define at least 3 Goals of the site –

  1. Just like any other website, you have to have basic information: address, phone number, contact email address. A common place to put this info is on a separate page, like a Contact Us or About page, but it should also be in a prominent place on the homepage and in the footer of the website. This makes it very easy for people who just want some quick general info to find it. Adding an embedded Google Map of your location is becoming standard practice, making it easier for visitors to get directions to your restaurant.
  2. Grab the customers attention with high quality to advertisements. For instance, photographs of their products are important in attracting new customers. Invest in high quality photography that highlights the food you actually offer. Just as important as the food is the interior of your restaurant.
  3. Creating a helpful site with proper information. The menu should be detailed and have its own page. Adding menu items directly into the site takes a little more time than simply uploading a scanned or PDF version, but the payoff is more than worth it.

‘Site message’ in one sentence – “Need something to eat, come to Euro and enjoy a nice beer and tasty gyros!”

Paragraph defining the audience or audiences of the site – The audience is mostly the general public, but the target audience is generally college students who love to drink and merrymakers with their friends and family at any hour of the day. Speaking from experience, its the place where people go to have a late night meal. If anyone is feeling like drinking or making a pick-up/delivery.

Existing Site Map and proposed Site Map – The website currently has a working site map, but I feel like I can make it look better. Unlike some of the websites who just include the address and phone number only.
